and teacher Wendy Gray.
Pupils at Arksey primary School have taken a keen
interest in Swan Homes’ new development at the
heart of the historic village from the outset, starting
with findings from an archaeological dig prior to
the start of building.
Subsequent
visits taught the children about the various construction
industry crafts and the latest outing included a demonstration
of energy-saving and safety features in modern homes,
plus a look at how a modern development is landscaped
to add sales appeal.
Before
leaving site, the children were invited by Swan chief
executive Nadeem Shah, to plant a commemorative silver
birch. The first tree to leaf in spring, the silver
birch has been regarded as a symbol of renewal down
the ages.
