Interiors
of the stunning Swan Homes apartments at Chestnut
Court, Arksey, themed by interior designer Sally
Clarke.
|
While TV property programme pundits hammer home the
location message in triplicate, interior design specialist
Sally Clarke believes internal presentation is equally
important in the business of moving new homes.
A
former regional sales director for McAlpine Homes
and a former chair of the Housebuilders Federation
Yorkshire Marketing Group, she should know.
Nottinghamshire-based
Sally has specialised in interior design and show
homes in particular for some 16 years and, prior to
that, was sales manager for a well-known regional
developer.
She
launched her own interior design business earlier
this year and one of her first projects has been styling
the houses and apartments on swan Homes’ prestigious
Arksey development on the outskirts of Doncaster.
Meanwhile, other home builders are lining up with
further contracts.
“As
a small, independent developer with distinctive style
and excellent build and specification qualities, Swan-built
homes are great to work on,” says Sally. Accordingly,
at Arksey she has styled the apartments as:
“Presentation
is vital in the business of selling new homes,”
she says.
“While
stark minimalism has disappeared, less is still more
in internal décor, with distinctive furniture
in neutral colours, blending with equally unobtrusive
walls and floors. We’ve certainly said goodbye
to swags and tails and ruched Austrian blinds, while
chintz went west a long time ago. Interestingly, however,
patterned floral wallpaper is making a comeback,”
adds Sally.
“There
are also signs that the great swing to wood and laminate
floors is slowing with a revival for twist and natural
wool patterned carpets.”
Swan
Homes sales manager Eileen Myles agrees on the vital
element of presentation in selling new homes and was
impressed by Sally’s work on Chestnut Court’s
Gateford show home.
“We
received some fantastic comments on the Gateford,
so we had no hesitation in asking her to work with
me our new show apartment which will be ready for
viewing in January. Sally has the ability to demonstrate
the design possibilities of a home, but not in an
ostentatious way that can so often be a distraction
to customers when choosing a new home. She skilfully
weaves creative ideas into a broad approach that appeals
to as many people as possible,” said Eileen.
